The Elevation Performing Arts Scholarships

We're pleased to announce The Elevation Performing Arts Scholarships! Offering scholarships to San Antonio, TX and surrounding area dancers is critical for fulfilling our mission of serving and supporting young artists focused on dance as a serious aspect of their future. While dancers may not need wings to fly, we're here to ensure they have what they need to thrive.

The Elevation Performing Arts Scholarships submission process consists of three requirements: 

1. The completion of the online application form below
2. A dance video submission following all the requirements outlined below emailed to had.elevation@gmail.com 
3. Payment of a non-refundable $25 application fee, which can be easily submitted by clicking the "Do What You Love" image down below. We will not review your application until payment is verified.

All three of these will need to be submitted no later than February 10, 2022. 

Twenty finalists from the application process will be invited to an in-studio audition to include Ballet and Jazz. A panel of judges will then select ten finalists from the audition to attend the Elevation Performing Arts Dinner Theater Gala on June 25, 2022. All applicants must be available for the performance. 

There will also be a three-month preparation period for all finalists, called the Professional Development Series, from March-May of 2022. The Development Series will include dance training, educational lectures, and self-development. The final ten will also learn choreography for an opening and closing dance for the Gala. In addition, the dancers will perform a three-minute solo of their choice as a final audition process at the Gala. 

Three scholarship winners will be honored with a first, second, and third place monetary award to invest in their future dance training. The top scholarship will start at $10,000.

Video Submission Requirements:

• Angle: Video submission should be filmed horizontal and show the contestant's entire body. Film the contestant solo with no other people in the video. Choose a simple background and avoid shooting in front of a mirror.
• Attire: The contestant can wear dance attire or a costume of their choice. Hair should be up out of the face and neat. They should wear proper footwear based on their style of dance. No jewelry.

The video submission will need to include three edited parts put into one full-length video.

1. Part 1: The applicant will film a 1-minute video stating their name and age and explaining why they are applying for one of the Elevation Performing Arts Scholarships and how the funds will elevate their dance training.
2. Part 2: The applicant will also need to perform any dance style, including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Modern, Hip Hop, or Pointe, in a 1-minute video submission. It can be their choreography or that of a teacher or friend.
3. Part 3: Finally, the applicant will need to perform either Ballet, Jazz, Modern, or Contemporary technical progressions of their choice, highlighting their technical skills. They will need to complete four different technical progressions individually. Each of these progressions should be done separately, and once put together, add to a total length of up to 1 minute. The progressions can be executed in any of the above styles. 

The required progressions are as follows:

1. A turn sequence
2. A jump sequence (I.e., petite or grande allegro, jazz sequence of jumps)
3. An extensions sequence (I.e., adagio, battements, tilts)
4. A floor work sequence
5. Optional: An acrobatic/ special skills sequence
